He is currently a resident professor of international politics at Hopkins-Nanjing Center. He also serves as a professor of international relations at the School of Government as well as School of International Relations in Nanjing University.

Professor Shi’s part-time academic jobs include: Director of the Asia-Pacific Development Research Center, Nanjing University; Deputy Secretary General of the Chinese Association for Asia Pacific Studies; Director of the APEC Research Center at Nanjing University; Executive Director of the Chinese Association for American Studies, Executive Director of the Jiangsu Provincial Association of Political Science; Editor in Chief of Nanda Asia Pacific Review and Arts in Asia-Pacific; He is also editorial board member or cummunication reviewer of many academic journals such as Foreign Affairs Review, International Review, Contemporary American Review and International Security Studies. He has served as a senior visiting scholar in foreign academic institutions such as Harvard University and the Woodrow Wilson Center for International Scholars in Washington, D.C.

Professor Shi’s research interests include: international relations, Sino-US relations, American politics and foreign relations, international relations theory, international security and strategic studies.

He has published more than 20 academic books, over 70 papers, and many international current affairs reviews in newspapers, magazines, and online media. His academic works have won the second prize of the 8th National Excellent Achievements in University Scientific Research, the first prize of the 17th Jiangsu Province Excellent Achievements in Philosophy and Social Science, the second prize of the 15th Jiangsu Province Excellent Achievements in Philosophy and Social Science, the first prize of Jiangsu Province Excellent Research Achievements in University Scholarship, and the first prize of Nanjing University Excellent Research Achievements.
