Yang Liu

Liu Yang is an associate professor at the School of Liberal Arts at Nanjing University (NJU) and an adjunct professor at The Johns Hopkins University-Nanjing University Center for Chinese and American Studies (HNC). She was previously a visiting scholar at Columbia University from 2015-2016. Her research interests include film culture and criticism, media studies, and comedy film studies.

She has led five research projects, including National Humanities and Social Science Fund for Young Scholars, the General Project of the National Humanities and Social Science Fund, the Major Project of Philosophy and Social Science of Colleges and Universities in Jiangsu Province, China Postdoctoral Science Foundation, and Jiangsu Postdoctoral Science Foundation. She has also participated in two international academic cooperation projects with Columbia University and Johns Hopkins University. She is a co-editor of one English book and a translator of two Chinese-translated books. She has published over 30 academic papers in both Chinese and English.

She has won several awards, including the National Teaching Achievement Award’s Second Prize, the Jiangsu Province Special Prize Teaching Achievement Award, the NJU Most Loved Professor Award, the NJU Award for Original Research by Young Professors in the Humanities, and was selected as a “Hua Ying Scholar” at Nanjing University.
