HUANG Jie

Professor Huang comes to the Hopkins-Nanjing Center from the School of Government, Nanjing University, where he is an Assistant Professor. After receiving his B.A. in political science from Nanjing University in 2011, Professor Huang pursued his M.A. degrees in political science at Fudan University and in media and governance at Keio University in 2014. He earned his Ph.D. degree in comparative politics at the University of Hong Kong in 2018. Between 2016 and 2017, he was a visiting fellow at Harvard-Yenching Institute.

Professor Huang’s research focuses on comparative political economy in transitional countries, especially Chinese business politics and youth politics. His articles have been published in The China Review, The Journal of Contemporary China and several Chinese journals. He is currently preparing a book manuscript in English on China’s second-generation rich based on his doctoral thesis. He is the recipient of the Jiangsu Provincial Philosophy and Social Science Outstanding Award (2022) and the Nanjing University Excellent Teaching Award (2021).
