On Sept. 22, the delegation visited Huashucun Village, located in Nanjing’s Qixia District, centering about topics of China’s rural revitalization and regional development.

In recent decades, the village's collective annual income has grown rapidly from 200,000 yuan to nearly 10 million yuan, earning it a reputation as a "Beautiful Leisure Village of China" and a "National Demonstration Site for Leisure Agriculture and Rural Tourism." It is considered a successful model of rural revitalization.
In the village, the delegation listened to Prof. Guo Wei from School of Social and Behavioral Sciences of Nanjing University to talk about population migration, mobility, and regional balanced development in China. In his presentation, Prof. Guo Wei illustrated the historical and policy background of population migration and mobility, the current status of uneven population distribution across regions, and factors affecting migration and mobility.

Then the members took a walk inside the village. They were impressed by the combination of natural view and leisure tourism facilities, which made it an attractive travel destination for the city people.

In the afternoon, several members came to the Pearl S. Buck Memorial Hall in Nanjing University. It is a yellow Western-style villa, which was the famous American writer’s residence. She also wrote the novel The Good Earth in the villa.

Because of her detailed descriptions, this book helped the western world to know more about the real China. She was later awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature and the Pulitzer Prize.
The members listened very carefully to the curator’s introduction of Pearl S. Buck’s life experience, her living and writing experience in China, and stories about her efforts to promote friendly interaction between China and the U.S. after returning to her home country. They gained a more thorough and vivid understanding of this figure.

In the evening, the delegation arrived at Shanghai by the high-speed train. A series of tours and exchanges in Shanghai awaits them.
