Representatives from the US Consulate Visit the Hopkins-Nanjing Center

On January 10, 2025, Mr. Phillip Loosli, Consul and Chief of Provincial Relations at the US Consulate in Shanghai, visited the Hopkins-Nanjing Center (HNC) with his colleague. He was welcomed by HNC Co-Directors Professors Li Xiaorong and Adam K. Webb, along with HNC Deputy Directors Mr. Shen Zhiping and Mr. John Urban.

Following a campus tour, they held a discussion in HNC’s conference room, where they welcomed Mr. Loosli and introduced him to HNC’s history, programs, and current situation. Mr. Loosli noted that the Consulate closely monitors education and employment outcomes for international students studying in China. Other topics discussed included HNC enrollment, students’ employment prospects after graduation, and the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on pedagogy, including newly added courses related to AI.

After visiting HNC, Mr. Loosli and his colleague proceeded to the Nanjing University (NJU) Institute for International Students, where they met with NJU’s Office of International Cooperation to gain insights into the university’s international engagement efforts.
