Delegation of Hong Kong Coalition visits NJU Suzhou campus

On February 6, TAM Yiu Chung, Secretary General of Hong Kong Coalition, Vice-president of the Chinese Association of Hong Kong & Macao Studies, 

Party Affairs Advisor of the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and 

Progress of Hong Kong led a delegation of Hong Kong Coalition to visit NJU Suzhou campus. Tan Tieniu, Chair of NJU CPC Council and Academician of 

the Chinese Academy of Sciences met with the delegation. Chen Dong, 

Member of the Standing Committee of the 14th National Committee of the 

Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Deputy Secretary and Deputy Director of the Party Group of the Standing Committee of the People's 

Congress of the Fujian Provincial Party Committee attended the meeting.

On behalf of NJU, Tan extended his warm welcome and new year's greetings 

to Tam and delegation members. He introduced the results of his recent visits 

to the Hong Kong, pointing out that NJU has a solid foundation and 

outstanding connections for cooperation and exchange with Hong Kong. He 

looked forward to the visit of the delegation of Hong Kong Coalition as an 

opportunity to further deepen the liaison and cooperation between the two sides, and contribute more wisdom of NJU to the long-term prosperity and 

stability of Hong Kong society.

Tam introduced the vision of the Northern Metropolis and the International 

Center of Innovative Technology, and the resolution of building a university town in the area. He pointed out that the purpose of the visit was to learn from 

NJU's experience and insights in nurturing and attracting talents and 

promoting the industrial development of Suzhou Industrial Park, to help the 

construction of a university town in the Northern Metropolis area, to nurture 

and absorb more high-level talents for the country and Hong Kong, to 

promote the development of science and technology innovation, and to 

advance the integration and development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-

Macao Greater Bay Area.

During the meeting, delegation members watched NJU's promotional film, 

and carried out in-depth exchanges around NJU's development history, talent 

training, scientific research development, cooperation in industry, education 

and research and other topic. The delegation also visited Nanyong Building, 

Science and Innovation Building, East Garden, International Centre for 

Academic Exchange on Suzhou Campus and exchange views with teachers 

and students at the School of Frontier Sciences.

The meeting was chaired by Jiang Tian, Executive Deputy Secretary of the 

Party Working Committee of Suzhou Campus and Executive Deputy Director of Suzhou Campus Management Committee. Gu Cheng, Director of the 

International Affairs Office/Office of Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao Affairs 

and Wu Di, Director of the Institute of Science and Technology introduced 

NJU's cooperation with Hong Kong, an overview of the development of 

scientific research respectively. Deng Bin, Deputy Head of the United Front Work Department, Suzhou Municipal Party Committee and representatives of NJU's relevant departments accompanied the visit and participated in the 

meeting.
